The Café Conversations are continuing in 2016

Dear friends of Community Cafés,

we hope that you had a good start into 2016. While we had to cancel our first Café on 29 January due to the storm in Brisbane, Community Cafés are of course continuing. We are working on new topics and questions for this year and hope to see you all at Blackstar in West End.

Remember: Café Conversations are held from 6.30pm to 8.00pm at Blackstar, 40 Thomas St, West End. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to RSVP.

Next Café Conversations Project on 25 September 2015
Dear Community Café friends,
Hello! You are invited to come along to the next Café Conversations project!
The Café Conversations are safe and intentional spaces where everyone is welcome. The Café Conversations are partnering with cafés in Brisbane to create spaces like these where people can meet others, build relationships and take part in conversations that matter. We will facilitate the Café Conversations Project on the last Friday evening of each month. At the Café, you have conversations with others in small groups.

We want to reflect on the current issues in Europe and Australia regarding the safety of refugees. Our question to all participants is: What is our moral responsibility towards strangers? Please come and join the conversation!

The Café will run from 6:30pm until a little after 8:00pm, during which you’ll be able to purchase drinks from Blackstar.

There’s no need to formally RSVP; just turn up on the night. If you have any questions about the event, please contact the team at communitycafes@pacsia.com.au.

This event is an initiative of the Community Café Dialogues, in partnership with Blackstar Roastery Works.

We want to know from you in what way your job or passion defines who you are. We are also going to talk about how much choice we have over where we work and what we do.

Happy New Year to all our friends and followers! It is time to get together again for good coffee and good conversations!

You are invited to come along to the next Café Conversations project! The Café Conversations are safe and intentional spaces where everyone is welcome. The Project is partnering with cafés in Brisbane to create spaces like these where people can meet others, build relationships and take part in conversations that matter. The Café Conversations will be on at Blackstar on the last Friday night of each month.

At the Café, you have conversations with others in small groups. On 30 January we will talk about “the state of the State” in Queensland. We find this is a fitting topic one day before the next state election. The Café Conversation is not a platform for political advertising or grandstanding. We want to have a safe and respectful discussion with you about your hopes for the political and social future coming out of the next election and your concerns about living in Brisbane and Queensland. Maybe some of our ideas will inspire the future political leaders. Everyone is welcome and every view is welcome at the Café Conversation.

The Café will run from 6:30pm until a little after 8:00pm, during which you’ll be able to purchase drinks from Blackstar.

There’s no need to formally RSVP; just turn up on the night. If you have any questions about the event, please contact the team at communitycafes@pacsia.com.au.

The Community Café Dialogues wish all of you peaceful and relaxing holidays

Dear friends of Community Café,

a couple of months ago we held a Café Conversation about the meaning of holidays and the question of who decides what is a public holiday and what not. There were lots of different views on the importance of holidays around the tables, and many of us found that too often it is only one group in society which decides what is a public holiday or not. Not all of you celebrate Christmas as a day of importance, and there are many other religious or non-religious celebrations which are not honoured as much in Australian society. We think it is is important that we all share what is important to us and learn about each other’s spiritual and community events. We wish you a safe and peaceful break and hope to see you all again next year for more Community Cafés. We would also like to thank all of you for attending the Cafés in 2014 and for making Community Café the safe, friendly, welcoming and stimulating place that it is. See you soon!

Serge, Erica Rose, Casey, Dave and the rest of the Community Café Dialogues Team!

Last Café Conversation of the year on 28 November 2014

Dear friends of Community Café,

you are invited to come along to the last Café Conversation for 2014!

At this Café Conversation we are going to continue our theme about holidays, culture and community. We want to talk about a specific holiday, the G20 holiday. What was your experience of the G20? Were you impacted by the rules and regulations enacted? Do think that there was any input from the grassroots into the discussions held in the convention centre? Did you attend any of the community events organised around Brisbane? Share your experiences.
The Café will run from 6:30pm until a little after 8:00pm, during which you’ll be able to purchase drinks from Blackstar. There’s no need to formally RSVP; just turn up on the night. If you have any questions about the event, please contact the team at communitycafes@pacsia.com.au.
